Byron Community Primary School (BCPS) is a unique independent school where students are guided to fully develop their individual sense of self. We have a vibrant and inclusive environment, and are committed to nurturing the whole child – academically, socially, emotionally and creatively.
At the heart of our vision are the 4Cs: Curiosity, Creativity, Connection and Commitment. These values shape everything we do, helping students grow into confident, compassionate and capable learners. We believe that trust and meaningful relationships are essential for growth, and we place strong emphasis on social and emotional learning to build resilience, empathy and belonging.
Our creative approach to teaching and learning is grounded in the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) curriculum, customised to maximise each child’s potential. Through innovative programs – including our distinctive on-sand learning at the beach – students engage with the natural environment, fostering a deep sense of custodianship and connection to Country. We aim to instil a lifelong love of learning, self-initiative and a passion for personal excellence.
Since 1988, BCPS has grown from a small converted shop on the corner of Ruskin and Tennyson streets into a thriving school of 109 students. Our facilities now include a library, music room, art room, kitchen garden, covered recreational court and multipurpose hall – all set among inviting gardens and interactive play areas designed for exploration, wellbeing and joy.
As a not-for-profit incorporated association, BCPS thrives on collaboration between staff and parents. Together, we foster a safe and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to flourish as learners and as people. Our students leave BCPS not only academically prepared but also socially and emotionally grounded – ready to be active, engaged and connected contributors to their community and the wider world.
